Fotografia. La cosa strana della fotografia è che non *dice* tutto. Ti *mostra* tutto, ma i veri misteri rimangono. Forse è nella natura stessa della fotografia. Solo lo schema della luce sulla pellicola. Ed è bellissimo. Non così, ma è bellissimo, come un linguaggio.
Manuela si mostra e ci mostra in questi autoscatti un’umanità nuda, inerme, fragile e affascinata dall'infinito.
Illuminata da una luce lontana che forse nemmeno esiste più, ma che ancora racconta la sua storia.

Photography. The strange thing about photography is that it doesn't *say* everything. It *shows* you everything, but the real mysteries remain. Maybe it's in the very nature of photography. Just the light pattern on the film. And it's beautiful. Not like that, but it's beautiful, like a language.
Manuela shows herself and us in these self-portraits a naked humanity, helpless, fragile and fascinated by the infinite.
Illuminated by a distant light that perhaps doesn't even exist anymore, but which still tells its story.
"Light Years" are the impossible, the elusive, they are the eternal dream of absence.
Sono una Polaroider nata il mattino del 25 dicembre 2023. Tutto ciò che è stato prima, durante il mio lungo vagabondare fotografico, è l’antefatto sperimentale di un preciso momento, quello in cui ho scattato la mia prima Polaroid.
Come nello stretto reticolo di una maglia, vissuto e conoscenza, Erlebnis ed Erfahrung sono trama e si intrecciano con l’ordito scaturito del desiderio, lo Streben.
Il segno della luce calda e vicina si impasta con bagliori antichi dell’Universo distante. E svela una visione, che appare piano, per mezzo dell’alchimia dell’istantanea. Incastonata in una piccola cornice. Sospesa tra Terra e Spazio.
Questo è il linguaggio con cui oggi mi scopro e mi ritrovo. Mistero e rivelazione. Anelito e compimento. La realtà che si trasforma nel sogno che ho in mente.

I am a polaroider, born on the morning of December 25, 2023. Everything that came before, during my long photographic wandering, is the experimental prelude to a precise moment
the one in which I took my first Polaroid.
Like the tight weave of a net, lived experience and knowledge, Erlebnis and Erfahrung, are the fabric, intertwining with the warp born of desire, the Streben.
The mark of the warm, close light blends with the ancient glimmers of the distant Universe. And it reveals a vision, which slowly appears, through the alchemy of the instant photo. Set in a small frame. Suspended between Earth and Space.
This is the language with which I discover and find myself today. Mystery and revelation. Longing and fulfillment. The reality that transforms into the dream I hold in my mind.

Light Years racconta di separazioni e distacchi. Di perdite e solitudini. Di viaggi intrapresi e di orizzonti inediti. Di esperienze dolorose e straordinarie. Di incontri inaspettati e cruciali. Di ricerca e aneliti. Di come a volte sia necessario andare lontano, perdersi, per poi ritrovarsi, e infine ricongiungersi con ciò che ci completa.
Philosophy
Light Years tells of separations and detachments. Of losses and solitude. Of journeys undertaken and new horizons. Of painful and extraordinary experiences. Of unexpected and crucial encounters. Of research and longings. Of how sometimes it is necessary to go far away, get lost and then find ourselves and finally reunite with what completes us.
